Elementary Programs

PMA's Elementary Program:

Phoenix Montessori Academy's Elementary program is offered for students from 1st - 6th grade.

  • Lower Elementary (1st, 2nd and 3rd grades)
  • Upper Elementary (4th, 5th and 6th grades)

Phoenix Montessori Academy is a full member of the American Montessori Society and is also accredited through AdvancED/Cognia. PMA strives to achieve academic excellence while embracing cultural diversity and developing a love of learning for the students through the following Montessori principles:

  • Small Class Sizes
  • Multi-age Classrooms
  • Individual Lesson Plans
  • Hands-on Learning Materials
  • Integrated Curriculum

Per the American Montessori Society, multi-age groupings of children ages 6 – 9 and 9 –12 (or 6 –12) provide a heterogeneous mix in which children can collaborate and socialize. These inter-age relationships strengthen the entire community.

PMA fosters an environment where older students can gain important leadership skills by supporting the younger students through socialization, collaborative work, teaching lessons they have mastered and more. The younger students are able to model behavior of the older students as they learn to become leaders and role models themselves.

Students are able to work through the curriculum at their own pace, taking additional time as needed or moving on to more advanced skills when ready. More in-depth information is available under the Lower and Upper Elementary tabs.
